It was a pleasure for me to receive the invitation of judging the international showmanship competition for Young Breeders. Hereby I will introduce myself.
I am Albertine Racer Palthe, 41 years old and I am married with Gert-Jan Haarman. Together with my husband, our son Gijs (10) and our daughter Eva (8) we run a dairy farm with 90 cows and 70 heifers on 60 hectares land near to the village De Lutte, Overijssel.
In early life I got infected with the Holstein breeding virus on the farm of my parents, especially by my dad. This motivated me to follow an agriculture / dairy study. During this study I did several traineeships in different countries. One of them was Indianhead Holsteins Ltd. in the United States of America. They were used to do a lot of shows and housed the world famous cow Stookey Elm Park Blackrose. She was in co-ownership with dairy cattle fitter Mark Rueth. From Mark I learned a lot of clipping and showing dairy cattle. After these traineeships I went many times to German shows to help preparing cows and showing them. But also in Belgium, in the lately ‘90s and early 2000 I was involved with the European Young Breeders School in Battice under the leadership of James Peel. Some years after, together with Erica Rijneveld  we started up the Dutch Young Breeders of the Holland Holstein Herds society. After several years of quitting the show circuit because of family life and our dairy farm you will find me again on some young breeders schools. For example in Slovenia but especially at the European Young Breeder school in Battice, Belgium.
Finally I wish all exhibitors lots of success!
